Summer Fun: 2009

We have had a crazy summer. Busy Busy Busy!!!! I feel like all I did was laundry, grocery shopping, packing and laundry again. But as you can see it was all well worth it. Brett and I had a chance to spend close to a week down at Lake Mead on a houseboat. We went with 7 other couples. What a blast!!! We decided to speed down to Vegas so that we could make it to the opening midnight showing of Transformers. It played at 12:30 a.m. their time (which made it 1:30 a.m. our time). Needless to say I slept through the entire show. We headed to the lake and spent 5 awsome days wake boarding, surfing, jet skiing, joke telling, game playing, and swimming. Wow now thats what I call a vacation.

Our next trip was our annual trip to Snowbird with Brett's family. Although our tirp was cut a little short. Amanda had girl's camp that week and Chase was playing in a soccer tournament. We spent a lot of time swimming, hiking, playing games, chatting and best of all eating!

This picture was taken at the look out. I love Snowbird in the summer.

Girls camp here we come. Amanda is on the far right. They had to meet at the church at 6:30 a.m. Amanda had a great time. Although if you ask her she will tell you the five mile hike was the pits. PLEASE, what's five miles- he he

Chase played in the Cache Valley Soccer Cup. WOW it was hot (record highs that weekend in Logan). Lets just say the temperature at game time was around 98 degrees on the field. He played four games in the heat. He hustled and really played his heart out. Dad and Mom were proud.

Chase and his buddie Ryan decided they needed a little energy boost before playing their second game. Brett and I gave in and let them get an AMP drink (even though mom kept saying they aren't good for you- it may even make you sick- what does mom know anyway). Chase decided real quick into the game that he will NEVER do that again. With the heat and the drink, he was SICK!

Our fourth trip was to Idaho. It was Grandma Maughan's 95th birthday- Lookin good Grandma. We stayed in Bancroft. We went to the 24th of July parade there and just hung out with family. Brett found a way to get in a round of golf at the Country Club in Pocatello and then off to the reunion/ birthday party.

Seriously we came home with a ton of candy. This parade is a dentists dream.

Chase started school on July 27th. I can't believe he is in 5th grade. My baby is growning up. His teachers name is Ms. Taylor. He really likes her. The first thing he said about his teacher when he came home from school was, "mom she went to BYU, she must be cool." We all agreed! Chase does well in school. He could care less about reading, math, spelling, science etc. His concern is, "what are we going to play during P.E. and recess." A boy right after his mom and dads heart. I always get a play by play report on the soccer game at recess or how many pop flies he caught while playing kick ball or wiffle ball during P.E. time.

We took our 5th and final summer trip to Bear Lake. The entire Ashworth family was there. We had a great time. We spent the day boating on Friday. Thankfully we got it in then cuz Saturday and Sunday it rained and was cold. But we didn't let that stop us. We got in several games of badmitton, croquet and cards. We roasted hotdogs and marshmellows by the campfire. I was just greatful for a little heat. I forgot to take my camera so there are no pictures of this trip. Hopefully my cute sister in law will email me a few and then I will add them to our blog.
Well my summer is coming to an end. I start back to school this Friday. Amanda begins the eighth grade on Wednesday August 26th. I always have such a hard time wanting to go back to work. But I must say that during these difficult times I am just greatful for a job. We have loved our summer and now its time to get back into reality- bummer. Thanks to my sweetheart Brett I have been able to play at the pool several times, catch a few movies and attend lunch dates with my friends. I also got quite a bit done on my honey to do list (cleaned all the windows and blinds, sanded and stained the deck and bench, cleaned out my cupboards and pantry, went through the kids bedrooms, rearranged furniture and cleaned out their closets). So I feel like I accomplished a lot this summer. Well thats it for now. I hope to update more often so that my posts aren't so long each time.
